Bassett House Apparel was created by Jean Elie. Elie’s a filmmaker and actor who rose to recognition for his role as, Ahmal Dee on the Emmy nominated series, Insecure on HBO. Starting out in the industry, Elie was mostly behind the camera. He knew it was vital to build a community of creatives that can support each other and collaborate on projects as they progress in the film industry.
Elie credits his success to the lessons he learned during those beginning years when he was living with roommates on Bassett Street. As an extension of that community Elie has created Bassett House Pictures, a platform which promotes rising filmmakers and connects industry professionals by providing a space and community to produce and promote their work.
Now he brings you "Bassett House" apparel, where a portion of your proceed will go in support of those creatives from the Bassett House Pictures platform.
Our hope is to empower creatives to be their own affirmation, as they workshop, develop, and distribute their ideas in a community that allows them to feel at home. Shaping the next Issa Rae, Ava DuVernay, Barry Jenkins, or Viola Davis.
